‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house, Not a creature was stirring, thanks to top-notch security, not even a mouse. The motion sensors were placed by the windows with care, In hopes that St. Nicholas would soon be aware.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of safety drills danced in their heads. And Mama in her PJs, and I in my cap, Had just activated the night-mode on our security app.
When out on the lawn, there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter. Reaching for the smartphone, next to my stack of books, I quickly logged in to our surveillance nook.
Alerts on my phone gave a quick notification, So I knew in a moment it was not a false situation. The outdoor floodlights, so lively and quick, Illuminated the yard, revealing jolly old St. Nick!
Though the system sensed him, it was trained not to blare, For it knew the unique signature of reindeer in the air. So up to the housetop, the reindeer safely flew, With a sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.
I disarmed just the chimney sensor, in a savvy way, To let down St. Nick, but keep other intruders at bay. His eyes—how they twinkled! His dimples—how merry! He said, “Your security’s solid, not at all scary!”
He spoke not a word but went straight to his task, Leaving gifts for all, and in my ear, he did ask, “How did you make your home secure yet so fine?” I winked and said, “Pepper spray and alarms, for peace of mind.”
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle, And away they all flew, like the down of a thistle. But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight, “Safe Christmas to all, and to all a good night!”
So remember this tale when you lie down tonight, Your safety’s important, be it Christmas or any other night. Good locks, alarms, and some self-defense might, Ensure you have all, a safe and sound, good night!
As always, be safe and be prepared.
